New York’s New Green Deal to Double Solar Power

As New York State is moving towards the green energy after Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed deal, the state is expected to double its solar power production in the coming years. The governor had a proposal for 100% Clean Energy by 2040 and with the green deal he is following up with details on the path to get there.
Experts opined that after the culmination of the said deal by 2025, New York will be able to distribute approximate 6GW solar energy, which is much higher than its current distribution of 3GW.
The New Green Deal concept has been championed by the first term U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and this is an expression of the larger political climate that surrounds wind and solar power in the United States.
Governor Cumo in his far-ranging 2019 State of the State presentation summarized clearly the past positions related to energy and has added future goals. Termed as a ‘globally unprecedented ramp-up of renewable energy’, this document describes the whole concept of this proposed deal.
The Green Deal includes:
  • 100% clean energy by 2040
  • By 2030, renewable electricity will increase by up to 70% from 50%
  • By 2035, quadrupling New York’s offshore wind target to 9,000
  • By 2030, deploying 3,000 megawatts of energy storage
  • Maximizing the potential and contribution of New York’s existing renewable resources
As part of the clean energy standard program, the Governor also announced that large-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects across upstate New York have been awarded via competitive bids. with all projects expected to be operational by 2022, the awards were majorly based on a solicitation scheduled in spring of 2018, and the state expects several projects to break ground as early as August 2019.
According to a social media poll of Sunrise Movement, about 98% Democrats, 93%-96% of centrists, and 66% of loyal Republicans supported a green jobs program. This is an interesting figure indeed to support and broaden the participation of New York State’s diverse population.
Several other governors from Connecticut, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, and Maine are also aiming for 100% clean energy in their respective states.

North Carolina Returns to Life through Solar Online

After the most dangerous and damaging hurricane ‘ Florence’  hit the North Carolina, the state is slowly coming back to normal life where 98% of people received electricity through the  solar power .  according to reports, the state also hosts the 2nd-largest capacity of solar at 4.5 GW of any US state after California.
