US Stadiums Opt for Solar Energy

For a sports lover cheering for his/her favourite team from the stadium gallery while munching on crispy hot dog is the ultimate love, is not it? Now, there is good news for all those hot dog lovers in USA, as a recent SEIA data shows around 6 million hot dogs will be sold using solar system at ballparks, the famous baseball park in the country.
Ballparks is not the only stadium opting for solar energy. in an attempt to improve the sustainable profile of their power generation, an ever-growing number of sports venues have taken on the use of solar energy. due to their ability to reach enormous numbers of fans worldwide, sports have always been a vital platform for value promotion. Solarisation of stadiums and other sport venues was achieved through wide-scale initiatives in many areas. International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision to include environmental protection measures as one of the requirements for a successful bid to host the Games is one of the largest initiative of this kind. both in Olympic stadiums and in the supporting facilities, PV systems and heat collectors have been popular renewable energy technologies.
One of the prominent solar associations in USASolar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) have published data very recently that shows solar systems have been installed at facilities across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NASCAR and IndyCar. The report further indicated that the total cumulative capacity in professional sports has reached 46 megawatts (MW), which is enough to power nearly 8,000 American homes. In past 3-years, nearly half of the total capacity has been installed, according to the report. Around 42 million Americans attended an event at a stadium, arena or raceway with a solar system, the data explained.
SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper said, “This data is further proof that solar energy is a meaningful contributor to America’s energy portfolio.” The President also added that nationwide ballparks and stadiums are investing in solar to save money on costly electricity bills and demonstrating that clean energy is a smart business choice for the future. “Solar is becoming so commonplace on sports stadiums and arenas that all of the 2018 champions thus far have been teams with solar facilities,” he said.
professional football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, NASCAR and the IndyCar series, all leading sports leagues in the United States boast sizeable solar assets. with solar at 32%, the NFL has the highest percentage of stadiums, however, both the MLB and NBA aren't far behind at 30% each. Interestingly, all of the major sporting championships have been won by teams with a solar facility (Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Capitals and Golden State Warriors) so far in the current year.
