SunPower Signs Pact with Walmart

Energy tycoon  SunPower group   has signed a pact with grocery giant  Walmart  to  install solar power  at two distribution centers and 19 stores in Illinois. This proposed plan will be a combination of both the rooftop and ground-mount systems that will be installed and are set to account for around 23 megawatts of power. Mark Vanderhelm, Walmart's vice president for energy said in his statement that solar was a vital component of the firm's expanding renewable energy portfolio and this planned projects with SunPower are moving Walmart in the right direction toward company’s  renewable energy goals . Construction of the Illinois system is expected to begin in the first half of 2019. The company has its ambitious plans when it comes to sustainability. US Air Force to Launch New Solar Facility at Holloman

The U.S. Air Force, alongside  El Paso Electric , celebrated the completion and commercial operation of the  Holloman Atlas Solar Array  at a ribbon cutting ceremony recently. spans over 42-acres and is dedicated to serve the Holloman Air Force Base electric load in Otero County, New Mexico, this is the first one of EPE-owned and operated solar facility built to serve a  military installation  in  US. Mary Kipp, President and CEO of the El Paso Electric said that the completion of the Holloman Atlas Solar Array marks a milestone in the renewable energy goals and embodies company’s mission to provide safe, clean, and sustainable sources of energy. Tesla to Come up with World’s largest Solar Roof

Energy giant  Tesla   once again snapped its investors, followers and competitors to attention with a roughly drawn Helioscope system analysis of company’s proposed 70MW  solar roof  on its Nevada situated Gigafactory. The rooftop is considered as the largest of its kind anywhere in the world and will approach around 5.8 million square feet of rooftop space. The company recently tweeted an image of an east-west racking structure utilizing ~350 W 72 cell solar modules, based on Tesla suggesting approximately 200,000 modules would fill out the facility. Gigafactory 1 will have the largest rooftop solar array in the world upon completion – 70MW or roughly ~200,000 solar panels. The Magic Kingdom in Florida is Going Solar Soon

It was definitely not in Walt Disney’s dream as the resort in central Florida is just a few months away from generating enough renewable solar energy to fully power two of its four parks. Disney will flip the switch on a sprawling 50-megawatt solar power facility composed of more than a half-million solar panels, just outside Disney’s Animal Kingdom before the end of 2018. this is aimed at helping Disney achieve its larger plan to reduce its net greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent worldwide by 2020 compared to 2012. The company has partnered with Reedy Creek Improvement District and solar project developer  Origis Energy USA  t o execute this much-awaited power project. North Carolina Returns to Life through Solar Online

After the most dangerous and damaging hurricane ‘ Florence’  hit the North Carolina, the state is slowly coming back to normal life where 98% of people received electricity through the  solar power .  according to reports, the state also hosts the 2nd-largest capacity of solar at 4.5 GW of any US state after California. Charlotte-based  Duke Energy  owns over the 2/3 of the service area of utilities and rest are handled by other companies. The company estimated that up to 1 GW-AC of the roughly 3 GW-AC of solar in its service area was offline at the peak of the storm and that 700 MW is not available yet. The company spokesperson, Randy Wheeless explained that near the coastal counties of the state, a lot of solar is available.
