Five Things to Know Before Installing Solar

Image
As the  cost of solar  keeps falling, more and more people are opting for solar other than the traditional source of energy, such as coal. Experts across the globe believe that the idea of powering house with  solar panels  has become popular. However, the newness of mainstream consumer solar power poses a challenge. There are not many people available who can guide you step by step if you wish to install a solar panel at your house. Keeping this in mind,  iSolarWorld  has discussed with some industry experts and figured out some useful guidelines that one can keep in mind before processing towards  solar installation . Right roof to support panels For  solar installation in the home , a roof is a key factor. If most of the time of the year, your roof is not getting sun rays, remember that this might not have a favorable enough ‘solar window’ to justify the costs of panels. Before you take the step of solar installation, you need to asses...

Go for Solar Loan to Light up Your Homes

Image
A newly conducted research by  Wood Mackenzie , formerly known as the  GTM Research , has revealed that people across the United States prefer  solar loans  over the third-party-owned solar systems to install  solar panels  at their residences. The research said that as existing loan providers scaled up their partnerships, new loan providers grew through relationships with regional installers.Solar  loan has emerged as the most suitable concept for solar buyers in the country throughout the first half of 2018 and has acquired around 42% of the residential market. If Wood Mackenzie’s analysis is to be believed, the current  solar market  reflects the situation large third-party ownership providers found themselves in a year ago. Most TPO providers aren’t profitable. They begin to generate cash only after necessary restructuring process is done. Solar leases or PPAs and cash purchasing are no longer the only options for you if you wish ...

‘Flexible Solar Cell’---New Option in Market

Image
Every year,  solar panel technology  is advancing rapidly, and constantly new developments such as  flexible solar cells  are being released. Traditional photovoltaic solar cells are getting relatively effective at converting light to electrical power, and these silicon-based panels power homes around the world. But, these are rigid, and therefore to incorporate them into a packed, heterogeneous urban environment is difficult. Researchers believe that newly-developed flexible solar panel, which has recently broken an efficiency record in its category, will put an end to all these problems associated with the traditional solar panel. Now, let’s take a look at what is a flexible solar panel and how they can be compared to typical photovoltaic cells. What are flexible solar panels? To separate charge carriers fullerenes are usually required in  polymer solar cells . fullerenes, however, are unstable under illumination, and form large crystals at high temp...

Carbon Nanotube (CNT) Antennas to make Solar Easily Accessible

Image
The technology giant  NovaSolix  has made a revolution in the area of  solar energy  by making carbon nanotube (CNT) antennas, which are small enough to match the nano-scale wavelengths of sunlight. To convert electromagnetic spectrum efficiently than  photovoltaic (PV) cells , these antennas are believed to be an effective tool. This latest invention has thrown challenges to Sir Arthur C Clarke. This famous 20th-century British author once said that the idea of collecting energy from the sky and using it in our homes to nurture our schools to educate and our industry to build is really the stuff of science fiction. These antennas are able to capture four times more energy of current  solar panels  and they are expecting to reach around 90% efficiency versus ~20% for today’s solar panels. This self-assembling antenna array solar cell will be 2-4 times more efficient at a less than one-tenth the cost per watt of existing solar. The California-base...

Will US-China Solar War Make Place For Other Countries?

Image
Since the beginning of this year, two international powers-United States and China have locked their horns over the solar trade . Since January 2018, US President Donald Trump and his administration have been waging an escalating trade war against Xi Jinping’s c hina by imposing an additional 25% tariff on imported Chinese solar cells and modules . This is an additional tariff imposed by the USA government as the country had already imposed tariffs on Chinese solar products since 2012, including 31% import tax. However, this was a specific response to Chinese export dumping and flooding the US market. These discounted Chinese goods pushed manufacturersfrom the domestic market to the margins. That same year Information Technology & Innovation Foundation (ITIF)also accused China along with some other countries of taking part in ‘ green mercantilism’ that included export dumping, currency manipulation, intellectual property theft and forced technology transfer. While clea...
